The Changing World of Shopping

Remember when you used to go to the store, put items in your shopping cart, go to the check-out line, have everything added up on a “cash register”, paid with CASH, and maybe even had the items brought out to your car (does anyone remember parcel pickup at Safeway?  They would bring my groceries and give my kids candy).

This morning I ordered my groceries online at www.realcanadiansuperstore.ca, this afternoon I will park in the designated spot and again will have my groceries brought out to my car.  This time I will pay with gift cards of course, to get my cashback and shopping points.  So some things have changed (they way we shop and pay), and some have looped back around (the service).  I don’t always use this service, but I do appreciate it on days that I am busy.  And for a young family it could be a godsend – you don’t even have to take the babies out of the car seats!

How else has shopping changed?  I’m not even limiting this to Cashback World, though I believe we are leading the way.  Ordering food has changed – with Uber Eats and Skip the Dishes.  Even the fact that so many more people eat out.  When I was a kid, we almost always ate at home, Mom or Dad did the cooking, “TV dinners” were a rare treat, and there weren’t even very many restaurants in our town (Kentucky Fried Chicken was brand new, and there was a bakery where we ogled the doughnuts and long johns, and a Chinese Food diner at the local hotel. When we traveled we stopped at the Voyageur for a hamburger deluxe).  Maybe you aren’t all as old as I am, but I am sure you will agree that dining out is a much larger part of our lives today.  Now we can dine at Cashback merchants and use our app/card to get our benefits, or use a gift card for Cara group, Earl’s, Pizza 73, or Subway. Soon we will be able to pay with the eVoucher on our Cashback World app – this is already a possibility in USA and Europe.  I am excited for how easy it will be be – this will open many doors to increase our shopping volume!

And what about shopping we do for other things?  Who shops online?  This avenue has greatly increased in the last few years.  And it is so easy with Cashback World to get your benefits from the online shops.  If you aren’t sure how, go to our online shopping tutorials.  Remember all the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales will be coming up soon – be ready to take advantage of that.  And you can look for “current offers” under the “promotions and deals” tab on your cashback website – any time!

Gas stations have changed a lot also.  Remember when they used to fill up your tank for you, and clean your windshield?  Does Domo still “jump to the pump”?  Not sure.  Now I pay at the pump with my Petro Points card, then my Preferred Price card, then my Gift Card – I love the convenience, I don’t even have to go in the store!

Isn’t it great to turn your everyday expenses into cash in your pocket?  Isn’t it great to know that every time you shop within our network you are building your future?  Isn’t it nice to know that we are a Shopping Community? Isn’t it nice to know that WE can have an impact on our Shopping Community (by signing on new merchants, shoppers and marketers)?  There is Win-Win-Win-Win in everything we do, from the shopper getting benefits, to the marketer earning income, to the merchant promoting his business, to the charities doing good for children and the planet, to the company and all the staff – everyone part of our Community!

Traveling with Cashback World

Do you love to travel?  I sure do. And to make your travel experience even better, it is great to get CASHBACK on many of your travel expenses!

Here are my Top Ten tips to do just that.

  1. Start with your plan. Where are you going?  How are you going to get there?  You can book your flight through many of our airline partners (search online merchants, travel), or you might connect with one of our cashback card travel agents (search cashback card merchants, travel).
  2. Bonus tip: if you are flying very far, I recommend anti-jet-lag pills.  It may just be a placebo effect, but I found them very effective. I got mine at Health Matters in Edmonton (for cashback of course).
  3. Where will you stay?  Some locations have hotels or other accommodations that are cashback card merchants (search in the country you are going to – an example in Italy is the Agriturismo, where you can stay at a farm or villa that has an agricultural component. I did this last year and loved it).  You can also use our online merchants such as hotels.com, booking.com and reservations.com. When I walked the Camino de Santiago in Spain, I used booking.com for many of my hostel reservations, and got my cashback!
  4. How will you get around?  We have rental car partners, airport limo services, and taxis.
  5. Where will you eat? You might be able to get cashback at a local grocery store, or you might prefer to eat out. There are 2 great ways to do a search for restaurants.
    1. Do a regional search of the area you will be in, before you travel.  If you aren’t sure how, go to our “Support Local” Shopping tab for a video tutorial. I did this when I was planning a trip to Florida, found a couple of great restaurants!
    2. When you are at your destination, use the Cashback App on your phone to see what merchants are nearby.  I have done this in many places, most recently in Prague – I found an excellent restaurant there!  Check the videos on the Cashback App tab.
  6. What will you do?  Did you know there are Cashback World partners that do travel tours?  I just checked viator.com – you can get  tours, excursions, and attractions! Again, you can do search on your app just to check what is nearby.
  7. Have your heard of eVouchers?  This is a new payment method available in many countries where you can pay right on your phone, get cashback and shopping points, and earn points on your credit card as well!  This is available for many of our retail partners, check in the country you will be visiting.
  8. And some other considerations: You might want to order some travel books or journals from indigo.com or lonelyplanet.com.  Get some new luggage from Irv’s Luggage or Bentley online. Get some new clothes for the trip at our numerous clothing partners, and don’t forget a bathing suit (maybe swimspot.com), and some good walking shoes.  You can get your travel size toiletries and sun protection at Shopper’s Drug Mart or Superstore.
  9. Or maybe you prefer to stay close to home, perhaps do some camping.  You can stock up at Canadian Tire, or Bass Pro Shops online. And get accessories at Patagonia, Atmosphere, Columbia (just to name a few).   And maybe get some gift cards for the Cara group of restaurants.
  10. How about a Houseboat vacation? Check Twin Anchors Houseboats in Sicamous, BC. Or if you like a bigger boat – CruiseDirect.com (I booked my cruise to Alaska with them)

Of course this is not an exhaustive list – every country will have different options.  Feel free to leave your tips in the comments.

With every merchant, be sure to read the terms and conditions to ensure you will get your cashback and shopping points.

Bon voyage!

P.S. Would you like to earn tax deductions on your vacation?  That is another topic for sure, but if you want to learn more, ask the person who invited you here, check the Earn Money tab, or click on Contact Us and one of us will get back to you.
